Maaruette
A city that grew too fast and has been trying to look respectable ever since.
Maaruette’s docks are among the busiest in the empire — goods, slaves, soldiers, and secrets pass through them in roughly equal measure. The Temple Quarter maintains an air of solemnity that the Docks do their best to undermine.
Districts
The Docks — Where the empire’s commerce becomes uncomfortably visible. Smells of salt, tar, and things it’s better not to ask about.
The Temple Quarter — White stone, incense, and the particular silence of a place where powerful people go to feel clean.
The Upper City — Where the money lives. High walls, hired guards, and dinners that last four hours.
